The End of the World boat is now on the Market

If you have read the About page here, or just about any page on this site, you will have gathered that this boat is built to go anywhere, in any conditions.

If you are a thrill-seeking adventurer you will love this Expedition boat. If you plan to take your partner and/or family to places unknown or off the beaten track, or even just out into the sea, you will equally appreciate the real sense of security you will experience - due to the custom built design that puts safety and comfort ahead of a shiny kitchen.

Having said that...the charm and beauty of this unique vessel will appeal to any romantic.

We are becoming quite excited about the thought of which custodian MEROPS will choose next.
She came to us in our dreams, and our lives will never be the same again. However, we will not be able to ride along to Antarctica or the North West Passage or sail around the Cape due to our own limitations. But MEROPS is destined to make that journey, with or without us, built, as she is, for the End of the World.

We look forward to meeting her new Master and Commander.

Sincerely
Captain Tillett and XO Chief Bunny

Falling in Love again

Something Happened...

While attending to the cleaning, maintenance, small repairs and such, preparing ourselves to sell MEROPS, we have found ourselves falling in love all over again.

It is going to take a serious offer from somebody who appreciates what an "End of the World" boat looks like....or we see ourselves continuing this adventure.

In light of recent events in Australia, with the Heatwaves and Bushfires, we are starting to realise that a boat that can sail to remote places, and stay offgrid for a long while is the boat we NEED as much as WANT,

The truth is, while we were thinking of selling MEROPS and looking for another boat, with different qualities...we could NOT find a boat that met with the criteria we were seeking.

It is always a difficult task to find a boat that can be all things. Ours is no different. But we have realised that MEROPS is all the things that MATTER to us.

Comfort, Safety and the ability to Sail Anywhere. That's where we are at. And we question ourselves as to what we thought we might achieve to look for a Motorsailer or Pilothouse, when MEROPS can perform in the same way, and fit the bill as an Expedition Sailing Boat.

Bit by bit, we have been making the boat more comfy. New upholstery and dividing curtains. A spring clean, and setting the boat up for Sailing again. Comfortable and dug in for now...but looking foward to some small trips again.

New videos on Home page

There are now 3 videos of the Hull and fittings, undertaken at the time of the survey. There was an extensive service involved which included sandblasting, refaring, new anodes, a new transducer, prop speed, paint and 3 coats of antifoul. If you want to see at a glance what the perfect high latitude sailor looks like below the waterline....then a viewing of these videos is a must!
